Mythbunutu es el acercamiento al modelo media center por parte de Ubuntu, aunque no esta soportado oficialmente por Canonical, al menos de momento... Ya han sacado a la calle su primera alpha.

El CD de instalación proporciona una interfaz gráfica en modo live que permite instalar y configurar un completo media center por medio de Mythtv sobre ubu. Han eliminado gran parte de los paquetes sobrantes, por ejemplo no contiene tan siquiera escritorio completo si no que proporciona directamente una interfaz orientada al HTPC.

El proyecto aun esta bastante verde pero dejan entrever los objetivos primordiales:

Known Issues:
* The standalone backend advanced options remove too much and take out the backend too!
* Proprietary graphics detection isn't included yet
* TV Out isn't included yet
* Firmware grabbing hasn't been included yet
* LIRC hasn't been included yet
* Mythtv-setup has to be delayed until the first boot to configure the backend. This will be eventually moved into the first installer stages
* There has been a report of the installer not working well on low resolution displays (640x480 or 800x600)
* Community Themes aren't included in this build
